Kuranda, the Village in the Rainforest, offers you the chance to explore ancient rainforest, engage with local artists, pat koalas at Kuranda Koala Gardens, wander amongst butterflies and so much more. This secluded little village sits amongst the trees, by the banks of the mighty Barron River. Here the pace is slower. The focus is on connections with people and place, and authentic experiences with locals and visitors alike. Amongst the markets and laneways, you’ll find amazing wildlife attractions including the always colourful and popular Birdworld Kuranda, as well as restaurants and cafes offering everything from bratwurst to burgers, homemade ice-cream and everything in between. The shops and boutiques cater to all tastes, styles and budgets. From opals and photographic prints, to didgeridoos, ceramics, jewellery, paintings and more. Wander the rainforest pathways to explore hidden streams or enjoy one of the many tours and attractions that complement the Kuranda experience and make for an unforgettable day or stay, including Kuranda Scenic Railway and the Kuranda Riverboat cruises. It’s recommended you allow yourself plenty of time in Kuranda to explore and experience the best of Kuranda without having to rush.
