Kuranda truly is the Village in the Rainforest, situated 330m above sea level on top of the McAlister Range, in the heart of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforests. Lush tree ferns line the roadside on the way into the village and numerous walking tracks and trails take you into the green surrounds, offering running streams, wide rivers and views over waterfalls and gorges. Boasting spectacular scenery and natural beauty, just getting here is an experience in itself.
Kuranda is very accessible to visitors staying in Cairns, the Beaches, Port Douglas and across Mareeba and the Tablelands. You can self-drive, taking your time to enjoy lookouts and local views. You can enhance your rainforest experience, by booking a trip on the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Both award-winning attractions provide complementary yet very different journeys through the Barron Gorge National Park. Or choose one and then book your seat back to Cairns and/or the northern beaches with local transfer providers – including Coral Coast Transport and Kuranda Transfers. There’s also a range of day tours and some public transport options.
So make a plan and pre-plan your transfers to and from Kuranda and then just enjoy your time at our ‘Village in the Rainforest’.
