Join the experienced and dedicated team of local naturalists on an exclusive and informative 45-minute tropical rainforest river cruise. The calm waters of the beautiful upland Barron River in Kuranda provide great photographic opportunities whilst your skipper gives you an insight into some of the history of Kuranda, the ancient tropical rainforest, flora and fauna that reside in this unique area of Tropical North Queensland. You may see freshwater crocodiles and a variety of birds, feed the fish and turtles and much more.
The boat departs from jetty below the Kuranda Railway Station. Walk across over the footbridge at the Kuranda railway station and go down the stairs to the river where you will see the red flags flying. The Kuranda Riverboat operates five daily 45-minute river cruises. Book online or pay cash only on the boat; there’s no credit card facilities on the boat. *Availability subject to seasonal river conditions.
An additional tour can be booked online in advance (minimum 2 passengers) to take part in a guided interpretive rainforest walk through a section of beautiful tropical rainforest across the Barron River, recreating aspects of the original tourism attraction in the same area held in the 1920s, known as Paradise. Tea/coffee and cake will be served at the end of the walk. You may even get so see Elvis the cassowary!
