There are many ways you can get to and from Kuranda, allowing you to customise your day to suit your itinerary and budget. Please note it is important to pre-plan your travel arrangements and lock them in in advance, as there is limited public transport options available.
You might like to book one of our transfer services. Coral Coast Transport provides a shuttle service on an 11 seater bus, with pick-ups from the Kuranda Village Information Centre at 4pm, Wednesday through Sunday, with drop-offs at Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal, Yorkeys Knob Cruise Ship Terminal, Cairns Airport, Cairns Night Markets and Cruise Ship Terminal. Please note these run subject to bookings and availability and must be pre-booked and paid for by 3pm on your intended day of travel, at the latest. If there are no bookings received by 3pm, the coach will not stop in at Kuranda. Kuranda Transfers provides a private driver and service and competitive fares for short and long journeys.
Alternatively, the Trans North Bus and Coach service runs between Cairns and Atherton, with stops at Kuranda Village. Please note this is a ‘Hail & Ride’ service which cannot be pre-booked and payments are taken in Australian dollars (they do not take credit cards). Service times vary across the days – download their timetable here [current as at April 2024] – and note the last departure time from Kuranda is at 2.10pm Monday to Friday and at 2.40pm on weekends and public holidays. See their website for more information. Another option is taxi or Uber, which can be unreliable in service times and attendance. The minimum charge by taxi is $140 from Kuranda to Cairns and must be paid prior to travel.
