Kuranda is a rainforest village located in the hills above Cairns in Tropical North Queensland. It’s about a 30–40 minute drive from Cairns via the Kuranda Range Road. Visitors also often travel by the Kuranda Scenic Railway or the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, both of which offer beautiful views of the rainforest and Barron Gorge.
Popular things to do in Kuranda include visiting the Kuranda Rainforest Markets and Heritage Markets, exploring the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Birdworld Kuranda, Kuranda Koala Gardens and Rainforestation, enjoying bushwalks and river cruises, shopping for local art, browsing boutiques, and trying the many cafés and eateries. Many visitors spend a full day wandering the village, meeting wildlife, and taking in the rainforest scenery.
