There are several ways to get to and from Kuranda, allowing you to customise your day to suit your itinerary and budget. Please note it’s important to pre-plan your travel, as public transport options are limited and can book out quickly.
The most flexible and reliable option is Kuranda Transfers, which offers premium private, door-to-door transfers between Kuranda and all Cairns locations. Services include direct hotel and accommodation pickups, airport transfers with flight monitoring, cruise terminal drop-offs at Yorkeys Knob and Cairns, and flexible departure times to suit your schedule. With modern air-conditioned vehicles, experienced local drivers who share insights along the way, and competitive rates with no hidden fees, Kuranda Transfers is ideal for visitors wanting comfort and convenience. Booking is easy online at kurandatransfers.com.au or by calling 0497 159 385, and services operate 7 days a week with advance bookings.
Other great transport options include Coral Coast Transport, which runs an 11-seater shuttle service from the Kuranda Visitor Information Centre at 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday. Drop-offs include Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal, Yorkeys Knob Cruise Terminal, Cairns Airport, the Night Markets and Cairns Cruise Ship Terminal. These services must be pre-booked and paid by 3pm, and will not run if no bookings are received by 2:30pm.
The Trans North Bus and Coach service also connects Cairns and Atherton with stops in Kuranda Village. This is a hail-and-ride service, which cannot be pre-booked and requires payment in Australian dollars (no cards). Departure times vary, with the last bus leaving Kuranda at 2:10pm on weekdays and 2:40pm on weekends/public holidays.

Taxis and Uber are another option, but availability is inconsistent and fares can be expensive, with minimum charges from around $140 between Cairns and Kuranda.
