Emu Ridge Gallery

Emu Ridge Gallery is a must-visit for gemstone and fossil enthusiasts. Founded by local gem experts Chris Maaten and Shane Hebbard, the gallery houses a diverse collection of precious and semi-precious stones, including opals, quartz, amber and fossilized wood. Visitors will find these gems crafted into rings, necklaces, amulets, and more, as well as individual stones and statement pieces. Emu Ridge Gallery’s wide array of stones and expert craftsmanship make it a unique destination for collectors, jewelry lovers and gift-seekers alike.

A highlight of the gallery is its Gemstone and Fossil Museum, where a 9-meter-long Allosaurus skeleton stands proudly, the only one of its kind in Queensland. The museum’s fossil and mineral displays add depth to the gallery experience, offering a glimpse into ancient geological history. Emu Ridge Gallery combines striking displays with knowledgeable curation, making it easy to see why it’s a favorite stop in Kuranda.

You can find Emu Ridge Gallery at their shop at 7-11 Therwine Street, Kuranda; in front of the Kuranda Original Rainforest Markets. They are open 5 days a week – Wednesday through to Sunday, from 10am to 3pm.
