Kuranda Ngorongoro Lodge

Kuranda Ngorongoro Lodge is located 3km from the rainforest village of Kuranda. Situated not far from the Barron River and close to the Barron Gorge National Park. Here is your chance to experience nature in a peaceful and tranquil setting.

Your hosts are Patrick Dauwe and Sue Schwass. Patrick is a Belgian who speaks fluent English, Dutch, French and a smattering of German, Italian and Spanish. And Sue is a Kiwi/Australian/Belgian. Both are wildlife caregivers and often have a variety of birds in care at any given time – some of which include Metallic Starlings, Brolgas, Silvereyes, Fig Birds, Bush Stone Curlews, Masked Lapwings, Rails, Double-Eyed Fig Parrots, Pardelottes, Magpies, Magpie Larks, Fruit Doves, Pigeons, Rainbow Bee-Eaters, Blue-Wing Kookaburras and Laughing Kookaburras.

The Cottage has the following amenities:

  • Two bedrooms, one with a Queen-sized bed and the other with two single-sized beds
  • Free wifi
  • An en-suite bathroom, with bath and shower, between the two bedrooms with lockable doors
  • A fully-equipped kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven, 2 hot-plates, basic condiments and tea and coffee making facilities
  • Ceiling fans in the bedroom and portable fan and the lounge/kitchen area
  • Air-conditioning in the Queen-sized bedroom and lounge area, Electric heater and extra blankets for the cooler winter months
  • Fly screens on most windows and doors
  • All linen and towels, reference books on reptiles, birds, butterflies, insects, bats and plants are available in the main house
  • A selection of novels
  • Wheelchair access
  • Television in the lounge
  • Off Street parking

Extra facilities include swimming pool, pool table, pizza oven and jungle walk along the creek.
