CHASING THE LOLLYMAN

"As original as it is Aboriginal" Baz McAlister, Time Off

Chasing the Lollyman is a one man show devised and performed by one of Queensland’s most dynamic and funny Indigenous performers, Mark Sheppard. It is a joyous sharing of stories, a celebration of urban Indigenous identity and takes a satirical look at the media and popular culture. Playing a variety of characters and weaving stand up with story telling and a good dose of clown, Mark pokes fun at everything from Neighbours (what would it be like if a Murri family moved into Ramsey St) to politics.

Developed in collaboration with and directed by Liz Skitch, Chasing The Lollyman is a brilliant new comedy brought to you by deBASE productions, makers of the hit comedy, “The Clown from Snowy River”. Written by Mark Sheppard, Co-devised with Liz Skitch, Set Design Josh McIntosh, Sound Design Ian O’Brien

“An affable and winning actor, Sheppard’s picaresque offering is as original as it is Aboriginal, taking a light - hearted but surprisingly deep and personal look at Murri culture within a sketch framework, drawing on his own childhood in Mareeba among the Muluridgi mob.” Baz McAlister, Time Off Magazine, 2010

Join Zennith for their CD launch at the Kuranda Amphitheatre as part of their East Coast tour!!!!

INDIGENOUS ROOTS REGGAE OUTFIT KICK OFF EAST COAST TOUR AT SPLENDOUR Celebrating the forthcoming release of their debut album Nothin’ To Lose, up-and-coming roots reggae band Zennith are embarking on their first official east coast tour, kicking off in Brisbane and Woodford with a billing on the coveted Splendour in the Grass festival line-up. Harking from Far North Queensland, Zennith are forging their way in an industry previou...sly dominated by pop, and showing that real music by real musicians is the way of the future. Deriving inspiration from the world around them, their Indigenous roots and experiences gained in the past few years the band has been performing live, Zennith’s debut release is all about the message behind the songs. The music traverses from laid-back reggae to up-tempo raw roots influenced tracks and even a bit of solid driving rock. There is something for all music lovers in the plethora of genres that make up Zennith’s record. While their music speaks for itself, it is in their live show that Zennith really shines. It is vibrant, tight and a visual spectacle as band members swap instruments mid-set and hype the crowd up to join in with the songs. Most of the members are multi-instrumentalists, who look as comfortable on the drums as they do on guitar and piano, and they all try their hands at vocals, successfully, as well as contributing to the songwriting process.
