Tourism Kuranda
Tourism Kuranda is a subcommittee of the Tableland Regional Council set up as the destination promotion body for the Village of Kuranda. It fosters close relationships to regional tourism organisations such as TTNQ and TTT.
Members of the committee are appointed for three years.
Members of Tourism Kuranda are volunteers primarily from the Kuranda business community, assisted by Councillors of the Tableland Regional Council. The CEO of Tableland Regional Council may, at his discretion, direct his staff to provide, from time to time, expertise and help in administration, accounting, legal or other matters.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Tourism Kuranda meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month. Meetings commence at 4.30pm. On occasions guest speakers join the committee meeting.
STAFFING
The Tableland Regional Council has two staff that coordinate the day to day operation of Tourism Kuranda and provides backup to the committee. The Executive Officer carries out all administration on behalf of the committee and is the point of contact for Kuranda business people and tourism representatives. The Information Centre Coordinator manages a group of trained volunteers who work at the Kuranda Visitor Information Centre.
FUNDING
Tourism Kuranda is funded by the Tableland Regional Council.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF TOURISM KURANDA ARE:
- To market and promote the destination Kuranda to the tourism industry and visitors alike.
- To provide the Kuranda business community with thoughts and ideas of possible long term marketing implications
- To give leadership and unify the Kuranda business community on issues of destination marketing
- To give the destination Kuranda a combined voice in interaction with other tourism marketing organisations and authorities
- To co-ordinate and facilitate requests from TTNQ and others for familiarisation visits of journalists and tourism industry representatives
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS OF TOURISM KURANDA ARE:
- To advise Tableland Regional Council, TTNQ, TTT and other regional tourism organisations of Kuranda’s marketing views and needs
- To provide marketing and sales leads for other Tableland Regional tourism operators
- To provide marketing and sales leads for other Cairns Highlands/Tablelands tourism operators
- To provide the Kuranda community and businesses with a forum for consultations on marketing, promotion, public relations and advertising issues
- To initiate and undertake market research for the destination Kuranda
- To inform Kuranda’s businesses of marketing & sales opportunities
- To advise the Kuranda Chamber of Commerce and its members of needs and possible actions required in the enhancement of visitor's expectations and experiences as outcome of research undertaken
- To suggest to all stakeholders innovative ways which may enhance visitor's experiences when visiting Kuranda from a personal interaction (education and training) and facility (capital project) perspective
- To advise Tableland Regional Council Councillors of issues they may want to take into consideration, needing mediation between the Chamber of Commerce and Kuranda’s marketing needs and requirements
- To represent Kuranda on local, regional, state and federal events in relation to the tourism industry
- To create, facilitate and foster strong interaction between the destination Kuranda and its suppliers, namely Skyrail, QR, Tropic Wings and other operators bringing visitors to Kuranda
- To provide suggestions of future possible infrastructure development which may enhance Kuranda Village from a marketing perspective
- To provide help, knowledge and assistance to potential infrastructure developers of projects which may enhance Kuranda Village from a marketing perspective
- To assist from time to time organisers of local events
